GPS trackers with a SIM: for pets
GPS trackers work out their own position by satellite and send it over a built-in mobile connection, so they show a live location wherever there is mobile coverage — but they need charging and, usually, a subscription.
How they differ from Bluetooth tags
A Bluetooth tag relies on passing phones; a GPS tracker reports by itself. That makes GPS the better fit for pets, which move quickly and often go where there are no people. Apple says AirTag is designed for objects, not people or pets.
What to check
- Whether a subscription is required and what it includes.
- Stated battery life with and without power-saving features.
- Weight and size guidance for your pet, and the water rating.
